There is hereby created a tourism committee for the city which shall consist of seven electors of which five members shall be residents of the city and two may reside outside of the city if their input proves valuable to the committee.

The members of the tourism committee shall be appointed by the mayor with the consent of the council. The members of the tourism committee first appointed shall serve respectively for terms of one year, two years and three years, divided equally or as nearly equal as possible between those terms. Thereafter members shall be appointed for terms of three years each. Members of the tourism committee shall serve without compensation.

The members of the tourism committee shall meet at least once a month at such time and place as they may fix by resolution. They shall select one of their members as chairperson and one as vice-chairperson who shall serve one year or until their successor has been selected. They shall annually appoint a secretary who shall keep a proper record of all the committee’s proceedings. Special meetings may be called at any time by the chairperson or in his or her absence by the vice-chairperson. A majority of the tourism committee shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
